Concert Playing in this song Bob Small
Bob learnt to play the pipes in 1968 when
he joined the City Of Hull Pipe Band. He was one of the
original members of the first pipe band in Hull. About nine
years later he helped to form the CRS Pipe Band, which played in
competitions around England and at many venues around
Yorkshire.
He was then approached by the Humberside Army Cadet Force to
teach the bagpipes to cadets and held the rank of sgt Major, and
the appointment of Pipe Major. After handing the Pipe Majors
roll to his son Ian , he was to hold the rank of Under
Officer. While with the ACF he played at some memorable places
such as Dover Castle, Chelsea Pensioners and the Marines School
Of Music.
In 1991, he helped to form the Kingstown Scottish Pipe Band
and took on the job of teaching all new pipers, a roll he still
does today. In addition to attending band practice twice weekly,
he now also teaches at The Hub in the seaside town of Withernsea.
